Lady Maroons Battered by Ramapo's Offensive Assault

After a big victory over Hackensack, Ridgewood falls 7-2 in Franklin Lakes

Ridgewood came into the game from a 6-1 win against Hackensack on Saturday, but couldn't withstand Ramapo's strong offensive assault in the first half and lost big in its first key matchup.

After the Lady Raiders scored twice, Ridgewood (1-1) pushed back and moved the ball, but failed to land one in the back net. Ramapo's Madeline Dalie then scored again, which then began a further push that resulted in one more goal before the first half finished with Ramapo up 4-0. Dalie, a former sweeper, finished the night with three goals.

Still, Ridgewood goalie Olivia Shaw led an assertive defensive effort, successfully stopping at least four other solid shots in the first half.

Ridgewood came back in the second half of play with renewed vigor, with junior Maura Feeney scoring a goal about 10 minutes into the half. After Ramapo goalie Allie Gilard stopped a pair of shots, the Lady Raiders made another push and Amanda Baumgarten scored. Dalie and Noelle Trattou also both also scored, bringing the score up to 7-1.

Fighting until the end, Ridgewood sophomore Kelly McBreaty scored a final goal for the Lady Maroons with about one minute left of play.
