Sports Teams Ignoring Lightning Detectors in Ridgewood

Not everyone is abiding by the new lightning rules in Ridgewood, according to a news report.

Resident Boyd Loving told the council last week that multiple baseball teams have been playing baseball games at Veterans Field in thunderstorms despite the presence of a lightning detection system that was installed last year, according to a northjersey.com report. He suggested an ordinance to penalize those not abiding by the rules, the article stated.

"They just shouldn't be out there [when the alarms sound] if it's an organized sports program," Mayor Paul Aronsohn said, according to northjersey.com. "It's just not acceptable."
