Official Results of Glen Rock Council Race Expected this Week

Provisional ballot count expected to be done by the county Tuesday.

The county is expected to certify the results of a number of close elections this week, including the vote for the Glen Rock Borough Council.

Borough officials told the Glen Rock Gazette that 22 provisional ballots cast during an evacuation of a polling place on Election Day were to be tallied by the county on Tuesday.

Results the night of the election remained too close to call, with only 17 votes separating second place finisher Councilman Michael O’Hagan and third place candidate Amy Martin.

Mary Jane Surrago, O’Hagan’s Republican running mate and council colleague, appears assured of another three-year term, while Martin’s Democratic running mate Sean Brennan is not within the margin of the provisional ballots.

Surrago finished 2,047 votes, O'Hagan with 2,029, Martin with 2,012 and Brennan with 1,993.

Should the overwhelming majority of provisional ballots necessary go in Martin’s favor, she would become the lone Democrat on the council.
