Access Events, Nature Walks This Weekend

A look at what's going on in Ridgewood and Glen Rock this weekend.

Access for All

The Ridgewood Community Access Network is sponsoring a weekend full of programs to raise disability awareness and embrace "our abilities, disabilities, special gifts and special needs."

Several events are scheduled over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with highlights including a teen dance Friday night, fashion show Saturday afternoon and soccer game Sunday.

See a full listing of events here, and read more about the work of the committee behind the program.

Walk Through the Thielke Arboretum

The wetland forest and nature center off Doremus Avenue in Glen Rock is hosting two nature walks on Saturday.

For early risers, an 8 a.m. guided tour will take participants around the trails for bird watching with a keen eye from the New Jersey Audubon Society. Walkers should bring binoculars to catch a glimpse of both native species and passersby on the journey south for the winter.

Later in the day, a family-oriented moonlight walk led by professional storyteller Julie Della Torre, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Carved pumpkins can be brought for entry into a contest, and flashlights are suggested.

The cost of both events is a $5 donation.
