Downtown for the Holidays
About 5,000 are expected downtown this Friday, Dec. 6 for Ridgewood’s annual tree lighting, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with an early appearance by Santa in Van Neste Park for young children. He’ll be there until 7, returning again at 8:30.
The main event is at 8 p.m. when the tree at the end of East Ridgewood Avenue lights up. The lights will be preceded by an hour of entertainment from local dance and theater groups.
Throughout the evening, Ridgewood High School student will provide musical entertainment around the downtown, and kids’ arts and crafts will be offered all night at participating stores.
Glen Rock Winter Wonderland
Glen Rock ushers in a new holiday tradition with its first “Winter Wonderland” event at borough hall Saturday, Dec. 7.
Building on the annual tree lighting, the borough, chamber of commerce and central business district began planning a revamped event this fall.
The main event takes place between 4 and 5:30 p.m., with a petting zoo, live music and refreshments at the municipal building, culminating in a lighting of the borough’s spruce and cherry trees.
Earlier in the day, a residents are invited to stroll the downtown and collect “snowflake stamps” for shopping at local businesses. Collecting the stamps will make local shoppers eligible for prizes at a raffle.
