I have tried several ways to contact the local Red Cross. I live in Wisconsin and my 84 year old mother lives in a condo in Waldwick. She has had no power since the night of Sandy. She is gratefully warm having gas heat and fireplace. There has been no response to her condominimum complex. No one has knocked on the doors of the complex to see if anyone needs assistance. Although she has heat, she is cooking her eggs, ( running low Im sure ) in a pie pan over a candle. I know a lot of people there are without power and I admire the patience and pioneer sprit, I believe there should be Some response after all this time. She has not left her home since the lights went out and hasn't had a decent hot meal since. Isan't any agencey or group checking neighborhoods to see if any aid is needed? I remember in 1981 living in Oakland on the river when we had the 100 year flood. The Red Cross was down in our neighborhood the next day and everyday serving hot meals 3 times a day, handing out cleaning supplies, blankets, and more. I lost everything I owned but they were such a comfort to all of us. What has changed? Surely after all this time someone could offer assistance. I understand there is a lot of need and too few resourses, but no well checks on the elderly or possibly sick? I tried calling the RC but they were CLOSED! Impossible to reach someone online...Worried in Wisconsin, Yvonne Bofinger
