Award provides for a $2,000 scholarship to a Ridgewood student.
A group representing school boards has selected Ridgewood Public Schools' Angelo DeSimone as the business administrator of the year for 2012. DeSimone, who is scheduled to retire at the end of the year, was previously named the business adminstrator of the year for New Jersey's northern region by the New Jersey School Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO). He'll be recognized by the group in June. Apart from receiving some a few pats on the back, a Ridgewood student will be eligible for a $2,000 scholarship from the NJASBO. Ridgewood features some of the highest student achievement rates in the state with among the lowest costs per pupil. Ridgewood Public Schools' business administrator earns distinguished service award.
Ridgewood business administrator Angelo DeSimone has been issued the Distinguished Service Award for northern New Jersey by the state's school board association. DeSimone has served as the district's assistant superintendent for business since 2005. He recently announced he would be retiring from the district at the end of the school year. "It's been the best years as a BA I've spent," DeSimone previously told Patch. "I like working in Ridgewood." The New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA) issues annual awards based on region and position. Ridgewood very well could have to replace its business administrator and superintendent next year. The business administrator has spent eight years in Ridgewood Public Schools.
Ridgewood Public Schools Business Administrator and Board Secretary Angelo DeSimone will be calling it a career at the end of the current school year, he announced Monday night. DeSimone, 64, was hired in Ridgewood in 2005. Apart from managing a $90 million budget, he helped lead the recent $48 million school referendum that saw major upgrades to virtually all of Ridgewood's antiquated school buildings. "It's been the best years as a BA I've spent," DeSimone said. "I like working in Ridgewood." DeSimone said he's looking forward to taking a Hawaiian vacation with his wife in July and doing some traveling in retirement. The district has not made any announcements regarding a replacement.
