Bergen County Executive's Son Pleads Not Guilty to Rutherford Drug Charges

May court appearance scheduled.

The son of Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan entered a not guilty plea Friday to drug charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly smoked marijuana with two teenage girls at the county executive’s home. Brendan Donovan, 20, waived a court appearance set for Tuesday and his Hackensack-based attorney, Robert Galantucci, entered the plea on his client’s behalf. according to a report on northjersey.com. Donovan was charged last week with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of marijuana. The arrest came after police got a call from Rutherford High School informing them that a female student had left school and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, authorities said. Police…

Sheriff blasts County Exec's task force as "subterfuge" and asks issue be put on the ballot. Task force was commissioned to review a $600,000 study that recommended cutting or eliminating the county police.
