'Cake Boss' Arrives in Ridgewood [Poll]

Is Buddy Valastro's new bake shop a good addition to the village?

If you didn't know any better, you might have mistakened the scene outside 12 Wilsey Square for Washington Street in Hoboken. 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro opened his second Carlo's Bakery in Ridgewood Sunday morning. Despite his aims to craft the Ridgewood location as less touristy than the original Hoboken store, the lines wrapped down the block. Fans glued their faces to the window while Buddy crafted Carlo's famous cakes with staff and family. Ridgewood council and chamber of commerce members were on hand to cut the red ribbon with Valstro under the spectre of media cameras and television crews from TLC's hit show "Cake Boss". "Ridgewood welcomed Cake Boss & his family to their new home in our community," Mayor Paul Aronsohn tweeted. "…

Hey Buddy, can you do your part in being a responsible business in our town and put up signs in your store reminding your clientele NOT to cross the street in the middle of Godwin Avenue to get to your store from the parking lot across the street? Tell them to use the two crosswalks like they're supposed to. I frequently drive eastbound on Godwin Avenue heading toward the CBD and as soon as I …   more ›

'Cake Boss' Eyes Bakery Empire, Starting in Ridgewood

Carlo's Bake Shop opens at 12 Wilsey Square on Sunday, Feb. 10.

[Update: Due to inclement weather, the grand opening in Ridgewood has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m.] Ridgewood is just the beginning, according to 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro. The TLC reality television star and face of Hoboken-based Carlo's Bake Shop opens his new 3,000 square foot store in Ridgewood on Saturday. And, he tells The Star-Ledger, four more bakeries just like it could be opening in the area by the end of 2013. The Ridgewood location will cater to the customers who want the cakes and canolis without the lengthy tourist lines in Hoboken. A custom cake-making station is among the options offered at 12 Wilsey Square in the village, Valastro previously told Patch. Already building a growing empire of cakes in …

Report: 'Cake Boss' Bakery Opening Delayed

Buddy Valastro and his crew will be opening slightly later than had originally been anticipated.

Eager fans of the hit TLC show 'Cake Boss' will have to wait just a little bit longer to sample the cakes and treats at Carlo's Bakery, according to a recent report. Various impacts from Hurricane Sandy have pushed back the opening of the Hoboken-bred bakery's to December, a spokesman for Carlo's told northjersey.com. The bakery had planned to open in late November at the historic "Playhouse" buliding at 12 Wilsey Square in Ridgewood. Star of the show Buddy Valastro has been familiarizing himself more with Ridgewood -- he stopped by Bookends last week to promote his new Italian cookbook. "We expect to do very well in Ridgewood," Valastro previously told Patch. "We have some really cool offerings at this new location, like a custom cake bar…

In case you've forgotten, Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop will be opening its second location at 12 Wilsey Square.

His arrival is imminent, that much is clear. Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop, a fixture in Hoboken for more than a century, announced it would be opening its second location in Ridgewood, expected to open late November. The first sign of progress is there, as evidenced by Buddy's Facebook post: "Our temporary signs are up at Ridgewood," the baker wrote. "We've got so many great projects planned, can't wait to see it all come together!" "We expect to do very well in Ridgewood," Valastro previously told Patch. "We have some really cool offerings at this new location, like a custom cake …

Gimmick???? The bakery has been in business for over 100 Years. Doesn't sound like a gimmick to me. Genuine?? Ha just because there is a tv show filmed around that bakery defiantly doesn't make it any less genuine. Oh wait you must be one of those people that shop at Whole Foods because you believe that organic is so much better.. And I guess you don't shop at Home Depot or Lowe's because they …   more ›
