Biz Beat: New Dining Options in Ridgewood, Glen Rock

Lisa, Raymond and Marc are bringing culinary excitement to Ridgewood and Glen Rock.

The winter thaw hasn't kept a few merchants in Ridgewood and Glen Rock from opening up to the public with hot eats. Much lauded Marc's Cheesecakes in Glen Rock opened the doors last week. Nestled by the train tracks at 251 Rock Road, Marc Silverberg offers rich specialty cakes chock full of fresh ingredients. You can count on slices, smaller desserts and coffee as well. Construction didn't quite go as planned on Oak Street, but Lisa Mayisoglu has finally re-opened Lisa's Turkish Kitchen after moving from Chestnut Street over the summer. What used to be an awkward, clumsy and off-putting space is now level, organized and gorgeous. The fundamentals of the menu – fresh Mediterranean food – will largely remain. Stop by at 28 Oak Street and …

On reality show 'Kitchen Nightmares,' celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay chastised the space – and much more – when it was under the stewardship…

Turkey's Earthquake Victims Getting Help From Ridgewood Merchant

Owner of Lisa's Turkish Kitchen, Lisa Mayisoglu, is organizing a clothing drive to send to the victims of the earthquake

Hundreds are dead, thousands injured and even more left homeless after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake ripped through the Van Province of southeast Turkey on Sunday. One ex-pat and Ridgewood business owner is organizing a clothing drive to help those she says are desperate for help. "The earthquake happened in the area where people are really, really poor and it's always cold there," said Lisa Mayisoglu, who owns Lisa's Turkish Kitchen and has lived in Ridgewood for years. "They're really in bad shape. It's winter and they need clothes and supplies to live their lives." Mayisoglu is asking that the considerate residents of Ridgewood help ease the struggles in the wake of disaster. Warm jackets, gloves, boots, scarves, sweaters, men's pants, …
