Readers React Live to Second Presidential Debate

New Jersey readers gave their thoughts as we live blogged about Tuesday's event.

The first presidential debate gave President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney a situation they could prepare for a bit.  On Tuesday night, due to the town hall-style of the questioning at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., it presented a much different situation for the two candidates. During our live coverage, we asked residents throughout northern New Jersey to join in the debate by participating in our live blog and tweeting their thoughts with #PatchPolitics.  The discussion on the blog was almost as lively as the one taking place on everyone's television sets. One commenter gave an opinion on what question they'd like to ask a citizens called upon at the debate. "My question would be: What trait does your …

Springsteen to Stump for Obama in Ohio, Iowa

For the close race in the states of Ohio and Iowa, New Jersey rockstar, Bruce Springsteen, will take the stage for the Democratic campaign.

Bruce Springsteen will join the campaign trail Thursday for President Obama in Northeast Ohio and Iowa.  The Boss will team up with former President Bill Clinton in Parma, Ohio then head on to Ames, Iowa later on that Thursday for another campaign concert and rally, according to Springsteen's website.  Although, Springsteen previously said he would stay out of the 2012 election, the presidential race in these states is tightening, reported The New York Times.  “His appearance will help with our get-out-the vote effort in these critical swing states, and we are thrilled with his ongoing support,” the Obama-Biden campaign manager, Jim Messina, said in a widely quoted statement. According to a CNN Poll of Polls, Obama only has a 3 percent …

It's definitly not about a sub par job done. I am a Independant voter and I voted for Obama last time. He does not deserve another term based on his results. Thousands of Ohioans turned out to see Gov. Chris Christie stump Tuesday for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Cuyahoga Falls. Who Won The Presidential Debate?

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney duked it out in Denver, Colo.

President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney faced off in the first of three presidential debates Wednesday night. The debate was held at the University of Denver in Colorado. President Obama, 51, vying for his second term, was leading by four percentage points in a national poll over challenger Mitt Romney, 65, before the debate. However, political pundits and speculation on Huffington Post questioned whether the debate could change the standings. The candidates are expected to debate each other two more times - once on Oct. 16 and once on Oct. 22. The topics for those debates will be domestic policy on the 16th and foreign policy on the 22nd. Even a small bump from Wednesday night's domestic policy forum could make the …

Democrats are jumping ship because President Obama is offering nothing but blame for the previous administration and his own pipe dreams at a time when voters need some real assurance if they’re going to believe the economy can be saved. Unfortunately, speaking as one of those Democrats, I have little hope that President Obama will change. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/09/07/why-…   more ›
