A pregnant Ridgewood woman and her two young children were taken to Valley Hospital after being struck by a vehicle at a Godwin Avenue crosswalk Thursday morning. According to Ridgewood Police Lt. William Amoruso, east-bound and west-bound traffic on Godwin Avenue had stopped to let the pedestrians cross north-to-south on Godwin Avenue at the intersection of South Monroe just before 9 a.m. As they were walking, a Nissan SUV turning left from S. Monroe onto Godwin struck the trio in the crosswalk, knocking the mother, 5-year-old son, and stroller – holding the 4-year-old son – onto the pavement. Incident occurred on S. Broad St. Sunday afternoon.
Ridgewood police are searching for an SUV driver who struck a woman crossing S. Broad St. and fled the scene early Sunday afternoon. According to Sgt. Brian Pullman, a female pedestrian was walking north on S. Broad St. when a woman driving a silver or grey SUV turned left onto Leroy Pl. and hit the pedestrian. The victim told Patch she put her hands out to stop the vehicle and did a "ninja flip," landing on her side. She sustained minor injuries to the wrist and knee. She declined to be transported to the hospital, Pullman said. The driver took off after a brief exchange in which she inquired about the victim's injuries, Pullman said. A quick-thinking pedestrian shielded her body from a vehicle on Franklin Avenue Monday afternoon, avoiding being struck.
A pedestrian crossing Franklin Avenue shielded her body from being hit by a vehicle late Monday afternoon by using an umbrella and handbag, Ridgewood police said on scene. According to village police, traffic allowed a female driver turn left from Atlantic Stewardship Bank onto Franklin Avenue. While turning, the driver reportedly had trouble seeing the pedestrian due to heavy rain and the bar connecting the windshield and driver's side window obstructing her sight. Fortunately, the alert pedestrian used her umbrella and handbag to take the force of the vehicle's impact, according to police. A 24-year-old woman crossing the street near the Ridgewood Train Station unexpectedly found herself on the hood of an Oradell woman's car, according to Ridgewood police. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the victim was in the crosswalk traveling from the train station toward Garber Square when a 21-year-old Oradell woman heading east bound on W. Ridgewood Avenue did not see the pedestrian and struck her, Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward said. The victim, who hit the hood of the car, complained of leg and back pain. She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center by Ridgewood EMS. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, Ward said. A 15-year-old girl from Florida was taken to the hospital after she was struck by a car while illegally crossing Linwood Avenue at the Paramus Road intersection Tuesday afternoon, Ridgewood Police said. Sgt. Glenn Ender said the girl was crossing north to south outside of the crosswalk just before 4:30 p.m. when a Jeep traveling west on Linwood struck her. The girl flipped over the hood of the car and fell onto the blacktop, losing consciousness, Ender said. She regained consciousness but did not remember the accident happening, he added. A Teaneck woman was taken to Vally Hospital Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the intersection of W. Ridgewood Ave. and N. Monroe St, Ridgewood police said. According to Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward, a 62-year-old Ridgewood woman turned from W. Ridgewood Ave. onto N. Monroe at about 7:32 a.m. and struck the pedestrian walking east-to-west in the crosswalk. The victim was transported to Valley Hospital suffering from a head injury. Her injuries were not believed to be considered serious, Ward said. The driver was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, Ward said.

A woman remains in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson after she was struck by an SUV Sunday afternoon in Ridgewood. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was walking in the crosswalk at Doremus and Ackerman Avenue Sunday at around 3 p.m. when an SUV apparently made a left-hand turn onto Doremus and struck the victim, said Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward Monday morning. The victim sustained serious head trauma and was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital by medical personnel. Female jogger hit at intersection of Prospect and Locust Street, police say
A female jogger was struck by a car in Glen Rock Friday afternoon and suffered minor injuries, according to police. Police Captain Jonathan Miller said the woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle just before 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of Prospect and Locust. The investigation is still ongoing, Miller said, but there remains a possibility the driver will be charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk. He qualified the injuries as "very minor."

Incident occurred in front of Bellezza Salon; driver charged with leaving the scene of an accident
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in front of Bellezza Salon in Glen Rock Thursday morning, according to police. Captain Jonathan Miller said the female pedestrian, age 36, suffered a minor leg injury after being struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by a Fair Lawn woman on Prospect Street at around 8:30 a.m. She was not in a crosswalk when struck, Miller said. "Originally it came into us as a 'check welfare' call, that a female party was seated on the side of the road," Miller said. A pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Saddle River Road and Kramer Place near the Glen Rock border around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Fair Lawn Sgt. Paul Scott said the male victim suffered some considerable injuries, but nothing life threatening. The man was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. Police are still investigating the incident, but Scott said there appeared to be no extenuating circumstances and that it was not being treated as criminal. Saddle River Road was closed from Kramer Place to where it intersects with Prospect Street in Glen Rock for a couple hours, but has since re-opened, Scott said. Patch will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
