Upcoming plans include adding a pastry chef and bringing more desserts into the mix.
Only open for three weeks, restaurant Raymond's has quickly become a staple of the Ridgewood downtown. Designed with Parisian flair and subway tiles, the brunch hotspot on the corner of Oak Street and East Ridgewood Avenue has had no problem filling its 140-seat dining room. "All things considered, I don’t have a complaint," said co-owner Joanne Ricci. "It’s been great. Expectations have been more than met so far." Those who have been to the original Montclair location might notice subtle differences on the menu. Responding to the interests of diners, more breakfast items have been added, Ricci said. Although it might cut into the small restaurant operating margins, quality is the name of the game. "We have our own chickens," Ricci said. …

The restaurant – which opened Monday – is delaying dinner service until after the holidays.
It's taken a little while, but the wait is over. Highly anticipated, Raymond's opened to the Ridgewood public Monday morning, co-owner Joanne Ricci told Patch. For now, Raymond's will only be offering breakfast, brunch and lunch services. Dinner service is expected to start up after the holidays. Famous for its French toast, Ridgewood is the brunch heavyweight's second location, the first opening in Montclair nearly 25 years ago. The village location's menu is largely modeled after the Montclair offerings. "Thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes," the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page Monday. "We are truly blessed and grateful." Raymond's is located at 101 East Ridgewood Avenue. You can call them up at 201-445-5125.

Long-awaited, the brunch transplant from Montclair will be unveiling the famous French toast sometime next week, a source tells Patch.
It's beginning to look a lot like Raymond's. The oft-delayed opening of the dynamo brunch spot on the corner of East Ridgewood Avenue and Oak Street still remains unclear, co-owner Joanne Ricci said Tuesday, disputing an earlier report on Patch. A source told Patch the restaurant had aims to do a friends and family opening on the weekend with plans to open to the public sometime next week. Ricci says the restaurant does not yet have a certificate of occupancy and has made no determination as to when the brunch spot will open. The restaurant has spent the last month building a staff and implementing training. Raymond's first acquired what once housed Washington Mutual Bank in 2011 and projected an opening in summer of 2012. The Ridgewood …

Famous french toast from Montclair was originally scheduled to open in summer of 2012.
In a few short months, Ridgewood will be treated to what many believe is among the best brunch offerings in the state. According to sources, Montclair-based Raymond's is scheduled to open in the early part of September. The brunch heavyweights initially expected to open in the summer of 2012 but, according to sources, the owners wanted the space to look exactly as envisioned and it takes time to get it juuust right. When open, the space will be slightly bigger than its existing sister in Montclair. The design team is known for its work on Balthazar and Keith McNally in Manhattan, co-owner Joanne Ricci told Patch in December. The look will retain the classical 1930s Parisian flair with reclaimed subway tiles, old brick and the Montclair …

Chef Karthik Kumar will be hopping over from the Montclair location to oversee the new curry house
Nothing makes a certified curry junkie happier than learning about a new curry house! Fortunately for curry lovers, Brick Lane Curry House will be officially opening another location in Ridgewood this Saturday (11/19). Though the restaurant is already open for diners, the rare autumnal snow storm dashed plans to "officially" open Halloween weekend. Located close to the Ridgewood train station, in the heart of downtown Ridgewood, the new Brick Lane is housed in the former Radicchio Italian Restaurant space at 34 Franklin Ave. Brick Lane Ridgewood will be quite a bit larger than its Montclair sister location, with 96 seats and an additional private room for parties up to 24 people. The renown, gas-mask-wearing chef, Karthik Kumar, has …
