A doctor accused of stockpiling bomb-making chemicals and assault weapons in his Ridgewood home had how-to manuals in containers marked "Anarchism" and "Revolution", Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said Wednesday. Dr. Roberto Rivera, 60, was arrested Nov. 16 at a Union Street apartment after authorities claim to have found 2.5 liters of nitric acid in a basement freezer. Hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, sulfuric acid, calcium hypochlorite, and potassium perchlorate – all of which can be used to create bombs – were also found, authorities charged. Roberto Rivera, 60, appeared in front of Bergen County Central Municipal Court Judge Jae Y. Kim on charges he posed a public threat by storing “a large amount of a highly volatile chemical commonly used for bomb-making” while also possessing several assault weapons and a stun gun. A New York doctor who was active in the Occupy Wall Street movement of 2011 was charged Saturday with possessing a large quantity of chemicals used in bomb-making, hours after authorities conducted a raid on the Ridgewood house in which he lived, officials said. Roberto Rivera, 60, a medical doctor, was charged with recklessly creating a risk of widespread injury or damage after FBI agents and members of the Bergen County bomb squad found precursor chemicals used in the making of explosives, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said in a release Saturday afternoon.
