Ridgewood Teacher Pleads Guilty to Disorderly Conduct Charge

Adolfo Noya, a 7th grade Spanish teacher, was accused of shoplifting at Whole Foods in October.

A Ridgewood middle school teacher pleaded guilty Thursday in connection with an incident in which he was arrested for shoplifting $75 worth of groceries at Whole Foods last fall. Appearing before Judge David Pfund on Thursday, Adolfo Noya, 47 of Wyckoff, waived his right to trial on the charge of disorderly conduct and entered a guilty plea. As part of the plea agreement with the prosecutor, the shoplifting charge was dropped. Police said Noya placed $75 worth of groceries in a $7 tote bag at Whole Foods on Oct. 25 and left without paying. Authorities said he was stopped in the parking lot by store security staff and subsequently arrested. Ridgewood Teacher Accused of Shoplifting Not Facing Suspension

Village police say Adolfo Noya, a middle school Spanish teacher, walked out of Whole Foods without paying the $82.30 bill.

A Ridgewood middle school teacher accused of stealing $82 worth of grocery items will not be suspended while awaiting his day in court, according to the school district. Adolfo Noya, 47 of Wyckoff, entered the Godwin Avenue Whole Foods on Oct. 25, where a security guard observed him load 15 items into a canvas tote bag before exiting without paying, police said Monday. Store employees stopped Noya in the parking lot at around 5 p.m. where police arrived and arrested the 7th grade George Washington Middle School teacher on charges of shoplifting. Accused Shoplifters Target Whole Foods

Several individuals arrested over a two-day span for allegedly taking groceries at the Ridgewood supermarket and not paying.

Food Basics in Glen Rock isn't the only grocery store occasionally targeted by shoplifters. According to Ridgewood police, Whole Foods in Ridgewood saw three shoplifting attempts over a recent two-day span. First, at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, store security claimed Laura Smith-McCales, of Mahwah, attempted to conceal items in her bag and leave the store. She was arrested by Ridgewood police and released. A day later at around 2:30 p.m. claims to have seen Christina O'Donnell, 22, of Wyckoff, place items in her bag and leave the store without paying. Police: Man Stole Baby Formula to Buy Heroin

A Paterson resident is facing theft and shoplifting charges for allegedly attempting to steal $180 worth of baby formula at Food Basics in Glen Rock.

A 36-year-old man is facing charges in Glen Rock for stealing baby formula to buy heroin, Glen Rock police said Tuesday. According to Cpt. Jonathan Miller, Paterson resident Jose Estrada entered Food Basics on Lincoln Avenue just past 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, grabbed 12 bottles of Similac baby formula. The suspect reportedly fled the scene without the merchandise when confronted by store security. Officer Lucas Doney tracked down a man fitting the suspect's description on Lincoln Avenue and arrested Estrada, Miller said. Estrada told police he had planned on selling the baby formula – valued at $179.76 – in Paterson to later puchrase heroin, Miller said. Man Arrested For Alleged Liquor Theft At Food Basics

Corey Newman, 42, of Paterson, was remanded to Bergen County Jail for the alleged July 25 theft at Food Basics in Glen Rock.

A Paterson resident is facing shoplifting charges for allegedly stealing liquor from Food Basics in Glen Rock on July 25, according to Glen Rock Police. The arrest comes days after a Garfield woman was charged with armed robbery for allegedly attempting to mace a security guard that tried to stop her from stealing booze. Police Cpt. Jonathan Miller said Corey Newman, 42, grabbed two bottles of Johnny Walker Black and one bottle of Hennessy Cognac before bolting from the Lincoln Ave. store without paying. Miller said Ptl.
