Glen Rock Residents Bombarded By Anonymous Porn Blasts

Residents in Glen Rock receiving porn messages from unknown senders through mobile app SnapChat, according to police.

The Glen Rock Police Department is alerting residents to be on the lookout for the transmission of pornography through a popular mobile phone app. According to Detective James Calaski, police on Tuesday morning fielded complaints that Glen Rock residents have received pornographic images of adults from unknown parties through the mobile app, SnapChat. "Nobody knows who's sending it out," Calaski said. "It's not coming from one account and we've heard reports of other towns getting it." Because of the high volume of recipients and the multiple sending accounts, police believe the images are spam messages sent from afar. SnapChat posted on its blog that the issue was widespread. Early this morning, some Snapchatters alerted us that they had …

Ridgewood Students Possessing Nude Photos Unlikely to be Prosecuted

State law passed in 2011 removes criminality for underage students engaging in "sexting."

Even if Ridgewood High students decide not to delete nude photos of several RHS students by the "amnesty" deadline of Monday morning, legal repercussions are relatively minor. Multiple sources have told Patch that two underclassmen RHS girls sent nude photographs using the social media application SnapChat to older male students, one of whom posted the images on Instagram for all the Internet to see. There was also a separate video of a dance depicting two high school girls simulating sex acts, sources said. The Ridgewood Police Department extended an "amnesty" period for students to delete the images/videos without fear of prosecution by 7 a.m. Monday. Private devices will not be inspected but school officials have pressed parents to …

To repeat what the girls did was stupid but what the guy did by passing on the pictures was criminal. He deserves to be punished. Not by jail time but by community service hours.   more ›

Nude Photo Scandal at RHS Highlights Dangers of Social Media, Superintendent Says

Daniel Fishbein held a news conference Thursday to address the transmission of nude photos of high school girls through social media.

The Ridgewood community should use the scandal involving the distribution of nude photos of high school girls through social media as a teaching opportunity, Superintendent Daniel Fishbein said at a news conference Thursday afternoon. Multiple sources have told Patch that numerous RHS girls (mostly freshmen) sent nude photographs using the social media application SnapChat to male students, one of whom posted the images on Instagram for all the Internet to see. There was also a video of a dance depicting two high school girls simulating sex acts, sources said. Most of the male students involved in the scandal are upperclassmen, according to individuals familiar with the situation. The incidents occurred off school grounds and after school …

Nude Photos of Ridgewood High Girls Prompt Police Investigation

Police have called for an amnesty period to allow students to delete the images without fear of prosecution.

Police are investigating claims a number of female Ridgewood High School students sent nude photos of themselves to at least one male student, only to find the images posted on the Internet. Several parents and students told Patch Wednesday that multiple Ridgewood High School girls sent the nude photos using the "Snapchat" application, which destroys photos between 2 and 10 seconds after they're received. An unidentified male student, expecting the images, took screenshots of the illicit photos and posted an Instagram gallery, multiple people familiar with the situation told Patch. Ridgewood school administrators became aware of the incidents on Friday and initiated a joint investigation with Ridgewood police. Ridgewood Superintendent Dan …

The law is the law M Justice. What some people might want to punish them with isn't what our state has determined is reasonable and necessary. Chalk it up to just kids being stupid which is exactly what it was.   more ›
