I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Giudice. He was a very nice man in my experience. I used to caddy for him and his wife at Ridgewood Country Club when I was growing up. They were older but they played quickly and treated caddies with respect. It seemed like they were a very happy couple who even in their 80s enjoyed spending time together. I hope that I will be as kind as him if I am …   more ›

Paramus Rotary Arranges Life Saving Heart Surgery For Filipina at Valley

With little time to spare, a local surgeon, Valley Hospital, and members of the Paramus and Fairlawn Rotary clubs teamed up to save the life of a 28-year old woman suffering from rheumatic heart valve disease.

While many college students are already enjoying summer vacation, several Paramus residents were visiting one at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood on June 19 to observe her recuperation after an intense heart surgery.   Diane Rossan Beltran, like many young women, dreams of completing college and pursuing a rewarding career. She also yearns to succeed so her mother will not have to resort to cooking street food as a major source of income, and to purchase medications. Rossan, who lives in Camarines Sur, of the poorest provinces of the Philippines, suffers from rheumatic heart valve disease, which is primarily caused by rheumatic fever in third world countries.   Her condition was so severe, she needed advanced treatment in the United States as …

I guess somebody forgot to tell valley that there's this crazy, new-fangled gadget called the intra web, and like, people from different towns and even different countries can find all sorts of information on the thing. So when you argue in one article for one town that there are too many hospital beds in Bergen County and then argue in another article for another town that you need to double the…   more ›
