Glen Rock Might Have Permanent Superintendent Selected in January

School board to be given a list of six-to-eight candidates to choose from on Oct. 15.

The tenure of Interim Superintendent Ray Albano may not last very long – the school board might be selecting its permanent replacement for retired David Verducci around January, according to a representative of the firm helping with the search. A mix of about 20 current superintendents, principals and other "front office personnel" from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York are in the running, said Jan Furman, of Leadership Advantage LLC. According to Furman, the application deadline for candidates will close Sept. 15 and the school board will then be given a list of six-to-eight candidates that meet their preferred characteristics on Oct. 15. Cause for Concern with Glen Rock Superintendent Search?

Neighboring district Mahwah is looking for a new chief administrator and say it's gotten 'absolutely nowhere,' blame superintendent caps

A nearby district searching for a new superintendent is “absolutely nowhere," according to its school board president. "The pickings are more than slim," said Mahwah school board president Tricia Shada, according to a report on Mahwah Patch. Mahwah's empty search speaks well to the challenges Glen Rock will soon be facing after its superintendent, David Verducci, announced last week his retirement effective in June. Mahwah Patch reported school officials blame the new superintendent salary cap for limiting candidate applications. The district in the Ramapo mountains can spend $167,500 for a new superintendent, $10,000 more than Glen Rock.
