Student Arrested on Heroin Charges, Child Hired as Police Chief for a Day in Top Local News

Eighteen-year-old Tristan Rodas was arrested at the school on Tuesday. Ridgewood's Michael Feeney was one of 28 kids suffering from a chronic illness named police chief for a day as part of a Bergen County law enforcement program. The $45.3 million budget passed 4-1 Wednesday night. District expected to bring two therapists from Sage Day School to provide early intervention therapy, identify at-risk students. The program could save significant money, officials said. Ridgewood superintendent requesting a total of seven new administrators to refill positions lost during cuts in recent years. No one seems to notice that he had all his money and how could his parents have not known that? I could understand not knowing he was taking them right away, it takes a while for it to become obvious that your child is on serious drugs, however, they didn't notice he had all this money? Did they even question him about it? That's something I'd like to know.   more ›

State officials announced Friday that a body found in a Passaic County reservoir Wednesday had been identified as Cathy Ann Debono, an Oakland woman missing since 2008.  An 18-year-old Glen Rock High School senior was arrested Tuesday at the school on charges of heroin distribution, according to borough police.  Wyckoff detectives participating in a Bergen County task force investigating "known burglars" have linked a Teaneck man to a February burglary in the township, police said Thursday. Mahwah Police are investigating the alleged robbery and sexual assault of a 20-year-old Fair Lawn man whom police say drunkenly encountered two Mahwah teens on a train from New York City last week. More than 100 people face charges in a drug investigation prompted by a "stunning increase" in heroin overdose deaths across Bergen County, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said Thursday. The approximately 120 arrests ranged from drug traffickers moving the heroin between Trenton and Paterson to dozens of buyers from leafy North Jersey communities, Molinelli said.
