Police: Employee Stole From Jewelry Store, Sold to Pawn Shop

A 21-year-old Ringwood woman is facing charges she stole jewelry from her employer and sold the items at local pawn shops mere steps away, police said Tuesday. Detective Doug Williams was reviewing pawn receipts from two Ridgewood pawn shops, Pangea Antiques and Ridgewood Coin and Stamp, when something caught his eye, Ridgewood police said. Those receipts, police claim, revealed a Ringwood woman, identified as 21-year-old Ashley Vietri, had been selling an "unusually high amount of jewelry." At the time, the owner of Gerson Jewelers reported an estimated $10,000 of jewelry had gone missing, according to Williams.
