ReplyAfter swallowing an 18% property tax increase due to the recent reassessment, followed by the lamentation of Mr. Canning that the town is out $600,000 due to successful property tax appeals - causing an additional 3.7% increase in property taxes - enough! Perhaps a 100% GOP Town committee is not a particularly good idea.

ReplyThe dumbing-down process has reached Montville. Won't the Montville graduates be shocked when they enter the work force and find, to their amazement, that performance is considered in the workplace. The Board and Administration base their findings on the basis of "everyone else is doing it," where have parents heard that line of justification before?

ReplyIt's rather tiresome that Mr. Canning laments the "loss" of $634,000 in tax settlements. Had the recent reassessments been fair and equitable, the town would not need to refund the money to tax payers. The reassessment plus the 3.79% increase in taxes is a bit much.
