Robert Schucker, founder and president of R&S Landscaping in Midland Park, N.J., has provided superior landscaping services to clients throughout the region for more than 26 years. Schucker, who studied at Rutgers’ Cook College, founded R&S Landscaping as a one-man mowing service in 1984. Since that time, he has grown R&S into one of the premier environmentally responsible landscaping firms in the New York Metropolitan Area, comprised of approximately 50 employees working within Design/Build, Property Maintenance, Plant Health Care, and Irrigation and Lighting divisions. Schucker is a Certified Landscape Professional and New Jersey Certified Irrigation Contractor, and is a member of the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association and PLANET, the Professional Landcare Network. He also serves as a board member for GreenFaith, New Jersey’s interfaith coalition for the environment, and Bergen Save The Watershed Action Network (SWAN), an organization that pursues the preservation of the watershed buffer forests around drinking water reservoirs in Bergen County, N.J. As a Green Roofs For Healthy Cities-certified Green Roof Professional, Schucker is one of North America’s foremost experts on green roofs — plant-covered extensions of existing roofs that provide several environmental benefits, including reduced storm water runoff and lower cooling costs. A strong advocate for professional development, Schucker encourages all employees to enroll in continuing education and certification programs, and has developed an internship program for college students and recent graduates.
