Pedestrian Struck on Franklin Avenue

Victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

A pedestrian crossing Franklin Avenue was rushed to an area hospital after being run over by a Volvo Wednesday afternoon in Ridgewood.

Ridgewood Police Lt. Forest Lyons said the victim was crossing north on Franklin from the N. Walnut St. intersection at around 2 p.m. when she was hit by the sedan. She sustained what were described as non-life-threatening injuries and transported to the hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing, Lyons said, but one summons has been issued to the driver. The identities of the victim and driver have not yet been released. This is the second pedestrian strike in four days in the village.
