Ridgewood Man Accused of Attempted Murder, Gets Shot by Security Guard

Man was arrested after being treated for his gunshot wound at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Saturday morning, report said.

A Ridgewood man was arrested on attempted murder charges early Saturday morning after allegedly shooting a man outside a Paterson restaurant, and then being shot by a security guard, nj.com reported.

According to the report, Anthony Olivo, 20, was arrested right after being treated for a gunshot wound at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

At about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Olivo and a 22-year-old man were having an altercation outside Banana King when Olivo allegedly shot him in the leg, the report said. An armed restaurant security guard then came out of the restaurant and shot Olivo several times before the Ridgewood man was able to flee the scene, cops told nj.com.

Olivo went to the hospital, was treated for his injuries, then transported to the Paterson police jail, the report said.

He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons possession and certain persons not to have weapons, the report said.

According to nj.com, the security guard has not been charged in the incident and, though not a law enforcement officer, was authorized to have a firearm.
