$550K to Restore Village Hall

Bond introduced Wednesday; figure covers all associated costs to restore the municipal building

The taxpayer expense to refurbish continues to rise, with the latest projection to complete the entire project slated to cost $550,000.

It may be a leap from the original pegging of $200,000, but this work includes tilings, kitchens, plumbing work, entrance to Village Hall with marble, as well as new water-proof concrete blocks that will be raised nearly five-and-one-half feet. All work to restore the municipal building, damaged by Hurricane Irene, is to be covered by the $550,000 cost.

The bond ordinance was introduced Wednesday night to the council and a public hearing will be held March 14. Should there be money left over, it could be allocated to another capital project. Ninety-five percent of the costs are bonded, the ordinance states.
