Clark Drops Out of School Board Race

Three candidates now square off for two seats.

has withdawn from the upcoming school board election, leaving one incumbent guaranteed to retain one of the two seats up for election on April 27.

In an statement sent to local media on Tuesday afternoon, Clark said, "After considerable thought, I've decided to remove my name from consideration for a board seat. I've been unable to spend the required amount of time needed to become informed on all of the issues facing the candidates and voters this year."

In an interview with Patch in March, Clark said that he had considered running for a board seat previously but was unable to find the proper amount of time to serve the community. Clark has been critical of the school board's handling of the and further charged that sports groups were more interested in sports travel teams benefiting than a greater scope of the Ridgewood community.

Incumbents Sheila Brogan and Laurie Goodman will now face challenger Christina Krauss for two three-year school board seats. The trio will meet at the Education Center at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night for the League of Women Voter's Candidate's Night.

The school board election is on April 27, where voters will also vote for the $86.77 million school budget. The deadline to vote for the school election is Wednesday, April 6.
