Bergenfield Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Accident That Injured Bicyclist

Police say witness took down a plate number after a vehicle hit a teenage girl on a bicycle and fled

A 32-year-old Bergenfield man is facing charges for allegedly striking a teenage girl on a bicycle Tuesday just past 12:30 p.m. and fleeing the scene, according to the Ridgewood Police Department.

Police charged Rommel Manlangit, 32 of Bergenfield, with leaving the scene of an accident with injury as well as other motor vehicle summons. An alert witness told police what transpired at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Hope Street, as well as a plate number of the accused.

The victim was taken by her mother to the hospital, according to Chief John Ward. He reported that her injuries did not appear life-threatening. Manlangit will appear in municipal court.
