Do You Want a Pickle With That?

A good stuff deli in Glen Rock

When we first moved to Glen Rock, we had to make the trip to the land of my ancestors every Sunday.  It was a far away place where you had to cross the water, travel for miles on crowded roads and eventually reach the holy land...Brooklyn.  Here was a land of hot pastrami on rye or corned beef that fell apart as you ate it.  There was kishka, there was flanken, there was borscht; all waiting to be purchased and consumed on the spot.  I had to get my fill of matzoh ball soup served to me by a little old lady who became my surrogate grandmother at the Mill Basin Deli.

One day, one my neighbors asked if I was still shlepping out to Brooklyn to get my "deli groove on."  With a little embarrasement, I answered "Yes, it calls to me." "You can't get good Jewish deli in New Jersey," I said with a hint of confidence in my voice. She uttered the magic words "Kosher Nosh" and my epic shlepping was over.

The Kosher Nosh is a jewel that is here in Glen Rock.  It has all the trappings of a deli on Coney Island Avenue but right here in our town.  From the pickle bar to the overstuffed sandwiches, The Kosher Nosh does not dissapoint and is about as authentic as a Jewish Deli can get.  It definetely gets a top rating from me for having great food and saving me a hell of a lot of time and gas.  The Kosher Nosh is absolutely part of my "Good Stuff" list and if you yearn for food from the old country, it should be on your list as well.
