East Coast Burger Opens

Casual burger joint with ice cream parlor introduced its 'hip' self to the Ridgewood public on Monday.

Long-awaited, opened to the public on Monday.

This isn’t your standard fast food burger joint – offerings at 75 Franklin Avenue include the Americana classics like ice cream, shakes, burgers and dogs, but you’ll also find lobster rolls, fresh salads, veggie burgers and more.

The owners tout the concept of a "hip Norman Rockwell" burger joint that focuses on high quality ingredients.

East Coast Burger will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. thru Sunday. Beginning Monday, the joint will open from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Pickup and eat-in options are available.

The eatery was originally scheduled to open in the fall of 2011 but construction hold-ups and problems with the town and permits delayed up the process.

Check back next week for a full profile of East Coast Burger.

It was an iPhone photo and the lighting was poor. It was a damn tasty burger, even though I prefer mine medium-rare.

I've only been to Smash Burger once and it was a really good burger as well. Hard to say, they're definitely comprable. I'll be going back to each place more often to see. I'd be remissed if I didn't mention Rony's Rock Burger in Glen Rock. That place is also really top notch.

I've never seen a restaurant open perfectly out of the gate. That's why they do a "soft opening" unfortunately or fortunately, the anticipation has created a high demand upon their opening. I would bet that once the kinks are worked out, it will thrive. I would imagine the website will have a menu and be updated once the "soft opening' is done. The shake I had was excellent and my buddy's grilled chicken was classified as excellent.

Michael Sedon and I remember the original name as "Too Bobs Burgers" during planning board meetings a while back. I should also mention there are apartments above the restaurant that are for rent.
