Report: 'Cake Boss' Bakery Opening Delayed

Buddy Valastro and his crew will be opening slightly later than had originally been anticipated.

Eager fans of the hit TLC show 'Cake Boss' will have to wait just a little bit longer to sample the cakes and treats at Carlo's Bakery, according to a recent report.

Various impacts from Hurricane Sandy have pushed back the opening of the Hoboken-bred bakery's to December, a spokesman for Carlo's told northjersey.com. The bakery had planned to open in late November at the historic "Playhouse" buliding at 12 Wilsey Square in Ridgewood.

Star of the show Buddy Valastro has been familiarizing himself more with Ridgewood -- he stopped by Bookends last week to promote his new Italian cookbook.

"We expect to do very well in Ridgewood," Valastro previously told Patch. "We have some really cool offerings at this new location, like a custom cake bar and a party room for kids to have birthday parties. We're excited about the opportunities."

Jim ido not believe you will get much support on this i personally cannot wait .

It's the not the cakes that I'm against, more the crowds, tv crews, and everything that ensues.

I support Jim - I really couldn't care about this

People don't usually just buy cake and leave. Probably will help Ridgewood downtown

I'm with Jim.....has anyone actually tasted any of this overpriced crap? last I was in Hoboken when the were closing down the uncooked pizza joint (just like Ridgewood) "buddy's" store there is simply a torist trap pumping out junk to make a buck as fast as they can.....ask any local in Hoboken....it's not the same and never will be......

Any update on when he is opening?
Joan December 10, 2012 at 04:22 AM
Carlo's makes the best crumb cake and lobster tails HANDS DOWN - the locals may be angry about the crowds but they've obviously never eaten the baked goods if they think it's junk.......

I will patiently wait for Cake Boss's opening and, when it does open, I will enjoy their delectable delights. Yum. I can't wait! Just a thought... perhaps baking classes could be offered. :)

I just hope they have the Easter pie and bread they make in Hoboken at Easter. That stuff is seriously good. Carlos was the 4th or 5th best bakery in Hoboken but they made a name for themselves on TV and now they are expanding. Good for them.

Having cut my teeth on the ORIGINAL Carlo's cakes, cookies, etc., I can DEFINITELY ASSURE YOU that Buddy's Carlo's in Hoboken leaves MUCH to be desired! The ORIGINAL CARLO TAUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER to BAKE! Everything was great!! These people today don't know how to bake!

I personally love Carlos pastrys however not such a big fan of their cakes. People are a bit harsh it was a mom and pop store and now has crazy amounts of people come everyday to expect the same quality it's a little ridiculous. I'm personally very excited to have buddy and his bakery family to ridgewood.

Can't wait for the show to come back. I watch it all the time. I'm sorry I live so far away or I would be there often.
