Roseland, NJ (February 6, 2014) – Allen J. Popowitz, a member and chair of the real estate practice at Brach Eichler, has been named chairman of the board of trustees for the ALS Association’s Greater New York Chapter. Popowitz most recently served as secretary of the board for the last two years.
“I am excited to be in a position to help move the Chapter forward with its fundraising efforts that will support the necessary research to find a cure for ALS, as well as fund treatment centers and raise awareness of ALS, in general,” said Popowitz.
Popowitz, who is also a member of the real estate tax appeals practice at Brach Eichler, represents residential and commercial property owners and developers, banks, mezzanine lenders, shopping centers and condominiums. He advises his clients on all aspects of investment real estate and lending, including, but not limited to, sales, purchases, financing, leasing and Internal Revenue Code Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges.
A resident of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Popowitz was named among Best Lawyers in America in 2013 and 2014 and was recognized by Chambers USA as a "deal-maker who can be counted on to make things happen." He earned a J.D from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and a B.S. from Princeton University.
“We are thrilled that Allen will be taking on the role as the Chairman of our Board of Trustees as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary,” said Dorine Gordon, President and CEO of the ALS Association Greater New York Chapter. “He has already proven his leadership in making our Annual Lou Gehrig Sports Awards Benefit the success that it is and we are excited to work with him as we continue to grow our organization.”
