New Technology Director for Ridgewood Schools in the Fold

Ryan Kenny was hired Monday night.

Ridgewood has finally found its man to lead the district's new technology initiatives, and it didn't have to look very far to find him.

Ryan Kenny was hired Monday night as the district's manager of informational technology at a salary of $130,000. The current IT director in Westwood will start Sept. 23, according to the board resolution.

Administrators and board members have sought a full-time IT director for about a year, stressing in recent months that it was vital to have a director oversee the integration of the bring-your-own-device policy and others.

The position was eliminated years ago amid budget cuts, mostly a result of the state gutting categorical aid.

Angelo DeSimone, the recently-retired business administrator, had taken over IT duties since the position was eliminated.

"The position has been open for too long," said an enthusiastic Vince Loncto, the board vice president. "I'm pleased and excited."
