This is nuts! The best deli in my opinion is not even on this list and has been around for years! Kosher Nosh...all the way!
Andrea April 16, 2012 at 10:59 AM
what about PARKWOOD DELI???? that's my choice!
James Kleimann April 16, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Hey Guys, Parkwood technically is in Midland Park but it's soooo close to the border, I've added it, along with Kosher Nosh (which was definitely an oversight). Right now there are five total votes. I think both can catch up.

Parkwood Deli is good. But nothing beats chestnust deli. Love there quality/quantity. But the owners are very friendly and always have a smile on their face and they make you feel so welcome. Go Chestnut!!!

Chestnut Deli is the best! The food there is great. You get great, friendly service and always with a smile! They also sell the best "Cake Pops" ever! If you haven't stopped in to try them yet, please drop by .... you won't be disappointed! :)

We have many good delis in Ridgewood but if you are looking for "the DELI" Chestnut Deli is #1.
Pat April 16, 2012 at 02:42 PM
If you need a good caterer this is the place to go. The penne with vodka sauce is to die for! Everything else is delicious and you get good portions.
James Kleimann April 16, 2012 at 03:07 PM
Which deli are you referring to, Pat?
Eugene J. Ferraro April 16, 2012 at 03:24 PM
Far and away The Chestnut Deli. Great food. Mr & Mrs Chestnuts are friendly, polite and they know every one by name. A real home town deli.
Nicole Sciuto April 16, 2012 at 03:38 PM
Chestnut deli hands down! Consistently good food, friendly staff, great cake pops! This is where all the local businesses go for reason!

Chestnut Deli offers consistently great food, fair prices, good portions and most of all the friendly owners Billy and Lu put their heart into everything they make. For a real treat go on a Saturday and watch their two little kids buzzing around the store. It gives the place a real friendly comfy feeling. PS: Try the "Nutty Chicken" You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for all the feedback and votes, everyone. Let's open it up a bit – what's your favorite sandwich/dish at your favorite deli? Name the deli and the item.

I like Gianella's 175 rock road. They have a $3.95 Italian sub. Delicious. We used to like another GR deli but stopped going there after they put a campaign sign in their window. Sorry. But I decided to vote with our $$.

Strange that on a school board election day, that so many readers are concerned with a favorite deli and making a vote. I suggest you get real, "make your own" hero sandwiches", get out of the chair and get down to the voting booth. Bring an extra special hero to the people working there since six this morning. Familiar faces I've seen for years.

It's a little known fact that Billy and Dino ran the cafeteria at The Record for a while when we were in Hackensack. I absolutely loved their veggie burger. Billy, bring the veggie burger to Chestnut! :)
James Kleimann April 18, 2012 at 12:53 PM
It's funny, I've gone to Chestnut countless times and didn't even know they made a bacon egg and cheese. I pretty much without fail go to Bagelicious for that (and it's my go-to breakfast sandwich) but will stop by today and order one. Thanks for your comment, Tommy.

I find it strang that the only anonymous poster on here is complaining about the choice of topics. If you're so serious about the school board election why not identify yourself News Man?

Chestnut Deli has the best breakfast sandwiches in town.
Bobby The Cop April 19, 2012 at 01:57 PM
Billy comes up with the best 'blue collar' food ideas ever! His specials always have something for everybody and he's not afraid to make it your way! Breakfast at Chestnut is very full-filling in the morning with a great cup of coffee to boot!
