Valley Hospital Pleased with Supreme Court Ruling

Ruling will "allow the much-needed reform of our healthcare system to continue," says CEO Audrey Meyers.

CEO Audrey Meyers issued the following statement regarding the that keeps the Affordable Care Act in tact:

Today’s Supreme Court ruling will facilitate the provision of health insurance coverage to 32 million Americans, including nearly 1 million people from New Jersey. It will also allow the much-needed reform of our healthcare system to continue.

Valley Health System has already invested greatly in reform efforts to improve healthcare quality, to make care delivery more coordinated and seamless, and to make healthcare services more cost-effective. These include the recent launch of our Accountable Care Organization, a system-wide commitment to operational excellence, and new collaborations and partnerships with physicians to provide higher quality care more efficiently.

They reinforce Valley’s commitment to reforming the way healthcare is delivered, and the Affordable Care Act will provide the policy foundation to support those efforts moving forward.

The Supreme court's decision will help the public understand what it is expected to do in providing needed care.

I only have one question did Audrey Meyers or any of her minions read this catastrophe it's larger than War & Peace, (perhaps 3 copies of W&P). All the goodies are out in front. Wait till 2014 when u have to deal with bureaucrats before u can even have a test done and pay a tax if you can't either afford or desire health ins. And don't think a refusal will be accepted, (not happening), why do think this adminstration is hiring more IRS AGENTS. It's not to help you out, it's to verify your income versus the amount to Health insurance you have. Trust me this is a alot more complicated than you were lead to believe, our King oh excuse me our President is a very devious man, he's more a socialist than a Democrat. Please think about it; ask questions.

It is obvious you have not read the Act. If you have insurance now it will still be with your insurer and anyone who pays into a new insurance plan will still be dealing with the insurance company not the federal government.Your insurance company already can refuse services and they do to many people Don't you think we need more IRS agent to go after people who do not pay their fare share of taxes or who hide there money off shore?

Have you read this 2700 page bill & if so what was your impression? I've heard admittedly on TV that lawyers from Heritage & the Cato foundation have read this bill & find it confusing and quite ambiguous. And no I don't think we need more IRS agents, we need jobs in the private sector not more government jobs. Don't you think this President has enough czars. Remember this wasn't supposed to be a TAX, GUESS WHAT IT'S A TAX.

If we're supposed to ask questions, I shall start with this one: When we're all forced to buy insurance from private insurers or else pay a fine, what will be the role of these bureaucrats who get in between me and a medical test my insurance company is willing to pay for? Or perhaps you are speaking of the bureaucrats at the insurers who have been coming up with more and more devious ways of denying people care for many years now?
Helen Cool June 30, 2012 at 02:30 PM
This is for JD, let me start by saying I'm not the brightest blub on the tree, however, I've tried very hard to pay attention to what has been going on for past 3 1/2 years. To start with I totally agree that insurance companies have played us like cheap fiddles. However, we have to keep in mind that these companies are not non-profit organizations; their purpose is to make money not only for themselves but for their Broad of Directors, stock & bond holders', pensioners, etc. But I'm sure you know that, if they are put a position where they are no longer able to create profit, they will just leave the medical insurance field entirely. Once they leave the scene we will be forced to head for the government rolls, in other words Socialized Medcine. Many people come to this country for medical procedures, not only because they feel they get better health care, they don't have to wait on line or be told they are too old to receive this procedure. And don't kid yourself this doesn't happen, it does. All I'm asking you to do is question your congressman or your personal doctors. How about tort-reform, or being able to cross state lines to get the best price. They're many things we could do but not while Obama care is the law of the land. Find out the truth, perhaps I'm wrong, I hope I am.

You shouldn't be listening to Heritage or Cato institute for valid information go to Healtcare.gov to find out what it really is. Have you noticed how many commercials are on TV these days for car insurance? Health insurers will be begging for your business. Medicare is administered by a private insurance co and the overhead is only 3%.
Helen Cool July 01, 2012 at 10:26 PM
I guess that's what makes the world go round, I personally believe nothing coming from the Obama administration, they will spin in any direction to make you a believer. Heritage, Cato & others don't the political agenda that Obama has, they don't have to be re-elected. Obviously you like the idea of Socialized Medicine, my thinking is more in keeping with the patient, doctor relationship being sacrosanct. Also remember the Supreme Court just officially designated this so-called penalty a tax. Why do think Obama is hiring more IRS agents, it's not to check up on how we're enjoying being forced to pay this new tax. I wouldn't be too quick to believe this healthcare.gov. There are other sources the Drudge Report, Fox News, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, etc. NBC, MSNBC are just arms of this administration. At any rate that's the way I feel. Good Luck
