Train Station Underpass Reopened

Pedestrian passageway was closed most of the month for improvements.

After closing for improvements earlier this month, the pedestrian underpass at the Ridgewood Train Station reopened Wednesday with a fresh paint job.

Additional work could be scheduled during the middle of the day, the village announced on its website, but will not occur during morning and evening commute times.

The $48,000 rehabilitation of the underpass was funded by NJ Transit, with money returned to the village for unsatisfactory work performed during a previous renovation of the station.

Other plans include paving of the lot, irrigation work and the restoration of a coffee stand, which will be bid out to vendors.

Ridgewood officials previously discussed the installing revenue-generating advertising frames after the underpass was painted.
