Charlotte Jane Zack Dies at 83

Charlotte Jane (Owens) Zack, 83, of Ridgewood, NJ passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 in Bennington, VT following declining heath.

Charlotte was born on March 11, 1929 in Ossining, NY the eldest daughter of the late Garldon Guy Owens and Charlotte Cecelia Beach Owens.

On July 26, 1952 Charlotte married James Zack at Christ Church, Ridgewood, NJ. Her loving husband of almost 60 years predeceased her on March 5, 2012. Charlotte resided in Ridgewood (the lifelong home of her husband) for almost 50 years. She and Jim also resided briefly in Holland and Kuwait. They loved to travel together and visited all 48 contiguous states and Alaska by car. Charlotte was an active member of the Children’s Aid and Family Services organization for many years, volunteering countless hours at The Depot in Midland Park. She painstakingly researched her family’s genealogy and became a dedicated member of the Saddle River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving is her loving family, her children, Jenny (Jeff) Peer of Howard, NY, Gary (Kathy) Zack of Pequannock, NJ and Holly Zack of Vassalboro, ME; her four grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Peer; David Peer (Elizabeth Magill); Kaitlin Zack (Zachary Dumont); and Christopher Zack; and her two great grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Peer. She is also survived by two sisters, Diane Smarro and Belinda (Edward) Watkins.
