3 Residential Burglaries and Shopliftings Reported

Police report several thefts.

Over the past week, Ridgewood Police responded to five theft-related incidents: three alleged residential burglaries, one shoplifting and a thwarted theft attempt.

Residents on South Pleasant Avenue, Queens Court, and West End Avenue all reported recent thefts, police said.

South Pleasant Avenue residents reported at 9 p.m. Dec. 7 that they had arrived home to find it had been entered, and the master bedroom was ransacked. It was determined that entry was gained through the rear sliding glass door. An undetermined amount of jewelry and a laptop were taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office.

A West End Avenue resident reported Dec. 5 that during the night, her vehicle was entered, and $1,7000 in items were taken. The alleged victim was unsure if the vehicle was locked or not.

A Queens Court resident reported Dec. 4 that, over the past two months, numerous pieces of jewelry have gone missing. No signs of forced entry have been found to the home.

Both the West End and Queens incidents are under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.

Additionally, patrol responded to Rite Aid Pharmacy Dec. 4 on a report of a juvenile shoplifter in custody. The accused had taken a can of shaving cream and concealed it. Then, he attempted to leave the store. The juvenile was transported to the police station and released to his parents pending a juvenile court action.

An East Ridgewood Avenue business reported Dec. 3 that a woman came into the store Nov. 24. The woman allegedly shoplifted an item valued at $300. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
