Authorities: Bergen Man Wanted for Killing Wife, Kidnapping Kids Caught in SC

Two children found safe early Saturday morning.

A Bergen County man wanted for killing his estranged wife and kidnapping the couple's two children was apprehended without incident when he arrived at a family member's home in South Carolina early Saturday morning, the prosecutor's office said.

John Robert Jordan, 47, of Lodi, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

His estranged wife, Tracy Jordan, 39, was found stabbed to death at about 5:30 p.m. Friday when Lodi Police conducted a welfare check after receiving a call from a concerned family member, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Officers found Tracy Jordan stabbed multiple times in her Garibaldi Avenue apartment where she lived with her two young children.

Authorities discovered John Jordan removed the children from their school Friday under false pretenses and was believed to be driving southbound in his estranged wife's 2012 Honda Accord, Molinelli said.

The New Jersey State Police issued an Amber Alert Friday night for the two boys, Anthony, 7, and Nicholas, 8.

Members of the FBI's Columbia, S.C. Field Office and Greenville, S.C. police officers spotted the Accord while they were conducting surveillance of a home where one of Jordan's relatives lives, Molinelli said.

Jordan was arrested without incident at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday and the children were located safely in the vehicle, Molinelli said.

Jordan's bail has not yet been set pending extradition to New Jersey.
