Car Break-ins, Stolen Packages Reported This Week

Five thefts reported over a five-day period.

Residents are hoping detectives can track down a number of thefts reported in Ridgewood over the past week.

On Aug. 6, a Fair Lawn woman told police someone broke the driver's side window of her parked vehicle and stole items from the car. Another driver parked nearby said an attempt was also made to break in to her car.

Two days later, a Cedar Avenue resident told police she found two UPS and Fedex packages that actually belonged to a resident of Meadowbrook Road. The packages were reported as stolen between Aug. 2 and 6. Police are still working to figure out what exactly happened.

On the same day, an Oak Street resident said his unlocked home was entered and his laptop was taken.

A Hawthorne resident on Aug. 9 told village cops that he lost his wallet at Memorial Park in Van Neste Square and someone used a credit card of his.

Police said that on Aug. 10 a resident of E. Ridgewood Ave said his vehicle was broken into and the thief stole a GPS device and change (for the parking meters?). Detectives are on the case.
