DWI Checkpoint Yields Multiple Arrests

Goffle Road crackdown operated by Ridgewood, Wyckoff, county police.

A weekend drunken driving checkpoint resulted in several arrests and numerous summonses on Goffle Road. 

Ridgewood, Wyckoff and Bergen County police made several substance-related arrests and issued several summonses in the joint operation May 21.

According to the Ridgewood Police Department, officials made six DWI and three possession of narcotics arrests. Additionally, police issued one underage possession of alcohol summons, one open container of alcohol summons, and 53 additional summonses.

The combined efforts had the two local department arresting and charging individuals separately, with county officials providing assistance.

In Ridgewood, Detective Chris McDowell said Robert Mullaney, 26, of West Paterson, and Justin Landi, 22, of Wyckoff were charged for driving while intoxicated. Kalvin Williams, 19, of Fair Lawn, was given a summons for underage possession of alcohol.

Wyckoff Police officers arrested: Gary A. Burlew, 51, of Franklin Lakes, who was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test; Anton D. Chaikovsky, 21, of Ridgewood, who was charged with possession of marijuana; and Erica Richardson, 18, of River Vale, who was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

This checkpoint was paid for by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, with no costs to the municipalities.
