Employee Accused of Stealing $40K From Ridgewood YMCA, Police Say

The bookkeeper from Mahwah allegedly diverted Y funds for her own use, police said.

A Ridgewood YMCA bookkeeper was arrested last week after allegedly stealing $40,000 from the community institution, Ridgewood Police announced in a release Thursday morning.

According to police, Catherine Easer, 54, of Mahwah, allegedly diverted YMCA funds and took about $40,000 for her own personal use.

About two months ago, Y officials alerted police to account discrepancies and a possible theft, police said. After Ridgewood Detective Jeffrey Casson conducted a two-month investigation, cops arrested Easer on April 10, and charged her with third degree theft, police said.
