Glen Rock Teen Confronts Intruder in House

Suspect said he was from fictitious company "Fair Lawn Landscaping," according to police.

An 18-year-old Glen Rock woman discovered an intruder peering down on her from the stairs of her South Maple Avenue home Sunday afternoon, according to .

The 18-year-old was home alone Sunday when she heard a knock at the door at 2:25 p.m., Cpt. Jonathan Miller said. The woman did not open the door and less than five minutes later discovered the intruder, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, in the hallway at the top of the stairs, Miller said.

The resident asked who he was and according to the report, he told her he was there from "Fair Lawn Landscaping".

She called her mother to see if anyone was scheduled to arrive at the house and upon hearing no appointment was scheduled, asked the man to leave. He complied without incident, Miller reported. The intruder entered the home through an unlocked door, according to police.

Police were dispatched to search for the man but he was not found, Miller said. No record of Fair Lawn Landscaping existing could be found.

No valuables of the home were found to be disturbed, Miller said. Police are investigating the incident.

Was it Mr. Rooney looking for Ferris perhaps? See THAT is exactly why I got rid of our natural grass rugs..The landscapers just walking into my home & it pissed me off.. Why the hell would a landscaper be INSIDE the house and she had to question that?? Kids.. there's a lesson to be learned here: IF SOMEONE IS IN YOUR HOME WHO'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE.. DO THE FOLLOWING: 1) DON'T THINK. IT WILL SLOW YOU DOWN. 2) GET OUT OF THE HOUSE (go to neighbor, get in car & lock doors, etc..just get away) 3) CALL THE POLICE 4) THEN CALL MOM Just glad she was not harmed! Now the search begins for a Hispanic landscaper..should be a "piece of cake" for GPD!

@ Craig - Do not judge. You have no idea how "normal" this intruder acted and you do not know how often they do have people in their house working on things. This teen did good.

So there was a door open? At 18, you should know that if someone enters your house without you opening your door you should get the heck out of there. I am happy that she is okay but people, talk to your kids and have them lock the doors while you are gone.

It's so easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. Hopefully you'll never be in that 18 year olds position!!!
