More Burglaries East of Route 17 Reported

Had been a month-long lull before two homes were entered the day after Thanksgiving

According to police, two homes were entered on Friday, Nov. 25. just after Thanksgiving.

The first incident occurred at home on Wickham Way, police said. Officers responded to an activated alarm and upon arrival, police from Ridgewood, Washington Township and the Bergen County K-9 unit conducted a search of the house and the area. Detective Chris McDowell said no known items were taken from the house. Police continue to investigate the incident.

Separately, on the same date, a Carriage Lane resident told police she came home to find her rear sliding door smashed. Rooms had been ransacked and "numerous" items were taken, according to police. Ridgewood detectives and the Sheriff's BCI unit are investigating.

There's no known connection to the previous burglary attempts, McDowell said.

There had been over a dozen reports of burglaries in the area by Washington Township and Ridgewood since the fall, which police speculate is due to the easy access to Route 17. Suddenly, however, the burglaries stopped for about a month before the reports of break-ins on Nov. 25.
