PA Resident Arrested for Jewelry Theft

Ridgewood detective concludes two-week investigation with arrest.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested April 26 on charges related to a Godwin Avenue jewelry theft.

Mitchell Barry, 19, of Lititz, PA, was charged with receiving stolen property valued in excess of $4,000, Ridgewood police said.

Making the arrest, Detective Peter Youngberg concluded a two-week investigation into the theft and subsequent pawning of jewelry reported stolen April 10 from a Godwin Avenue residence.

The jewelry was found in a Ridgewood jewelry store and identified as the victim's items.

Barry was released after posting bail pending a first appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

Other police news:

  • Maple Avenue residents reported April 21 that their apartment had been entered the day before. They did not immediately notice the entry until they found items missing. The residents reported that numerous electronic devices had been taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A doctor's office on Ackerman Avenue reported April 22 that the office had been entered during the night. Cash and hypodermic needles were reported missing. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • An employee of The Valley Hospital reported April 23 that she had left her purse in her locker at work. She noticed the day before that her ATM card was missing. When she contacted her bank the card had been used numerous times. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • A Ridgewood business owner reported April 26 that he was picking rental chairs up on North Walnut Street. He had placed a stack of chairs in the front yard and went to get more. When he returned, a gray vehicle was pulling away with the chairs. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
