Police Arrest Paterson Man on Drug Charges

Police blotter—June 1 to 6, 2010.

Ridgewood police arrested a Paterson resident last Friday on drug charges.

Bernard Ledbetter, 31, was arrested June 4 and charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of marijuana, police said. 

Patrol responded to the Ridgewood Train Station on a report of an unresponsive man at 10:45 p.m. last Friday. Ptl. John Chuck located Ledbetter, and said he appeared extremely intoxicated. Chuck determined that Ledbetter was under the influence of a controlled substance, and found Ledbetter to be in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine.

Unable to post the $2,500 bail, Ledbetter was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, police said.

  • A Walthery Avenue resident reported June 1 that her vehicle and home had been entered while she was asleep during the night. Numerous pieces of jewelry were reported stolen. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • Kings Supermarket reported June 5 that someone had thrown a cinderblock threw a window. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • On June 5, 2010 a Ridgewood resident reported that on May 13 his son had placed a rented bell kit on the sidewalk on John Street. He went to the backyard to meet with a friend. When he returned to the sidewalk, the kit was gone.
