Ridgewood Among Safest Towns in Bergen, Study Says

Wyckoff, New Milford, Bergenfield, Dumont and Mahwah ranked at the top of public safety in the county, according to a study published Monday.

Ridgewood is the 6th safest town in Bergen County and the 15th safest in New Jersey, according to safewise.com, a website that analyzes crime data and reviews home security products.

Their study published Monday noted that fewer than 10 violent crimes were reported in the village in 2011, the last year for which FBI crime data is available.

Hard statistics aside, SafeWise also noted the breadth of community and youth programming that adds to the cohesiveness of the town.

In Bergen County, Wyckoff, New Milford, Bergenfield and Dumont ranked high in safety, according to SafeWise’s analysis. Mahwah was called the safest city in the state.
