En route to a medical call, a village ambulance struck the side of an SUV at the intersection of E. Ridgewood and Van Neste Sq. Tuesday afternoon.

An ambulance racing to the scene of a medical emergency was involved in a motor vehicle accident just before 12 p.m. Tuesday.

After a car had proceded through the intersection of of E. Ridgewood Ave. south onto Van Neste Square, a Village of Ridgewood ambulance attempting to pass a Mercedes SUV on the left scraped against the vehicle and continued toward its original destination.

I guess you do not have to stop for emergency vehicles any more.

Was a summons issued to either driver?

No summonses that I'm aware of, Boyd. Will follow up tomorrow.

Forgot to mention this yesterday – I stopped by to see if citations/summonses were issued and ended up giving a witness statement. It's fair to say nothing has been issued yet. The ambulance driver and SUV driver gave conflicting statements, police said (meaning my statement is fairly important to the case).
