Ridgewood Fire Dept. Hosts Open House Sunday

As part of fire prevention month, the Ridgewood Fire Department will open its doors Sunday to the public for a free demonstration of its emergency response methods.

Residents are invited to stop by the Glen Avenue headquarters from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for simulations of extinguishing a stove top fire, car fire, performing vehicle extrication and repelling from the fire tower, Chief Jim Van Goor said.

The annual event, designed to demonstrate fire fighting and prevention techniques, will also offer kids the opportunity to check out the trucks and gear used by firefighters.

Complementary doughnuts and cider will be on hand as an added bonus.
