Ridgewood Police Beat August 3-10: BB Pellet, Frozen Drink Strike Residents; Juveniles Arrested

A list of incidents reported by the Ridgewood Police from Aug. 3 to 10.

Ridgewood police reported in its weekly blotter that two people were struck by objects in the village last week—by a frozen drink thrown from a car and a BB pellet. The incidents and others are described below.

Home Entered While Owners Away

An Oak Street resident reported that while his family was away an unknown person entered his home and stole video games. Entry to the home was gained through an unlocked window. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.

Rite Aid Shoplifter Arrested

Rite Aid Pharmacy reported a juvenile shoplifter at 1 p.m. The accused juvenile from Allendale was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was released to the custody of his parents pending juvenile court action.

Frozen Drink Strikes Cyclist

A Hawthorne resident reported that she was riding a bike on North Maple Avenue at 6:45 p.m. A passenger in a passing vehicle threw a frozen drink striking her. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.

Camera Taken From Skatepark

A Haledon resident reported his camera was taken from the Ridgewood skatepark while he went to purchase a drink at Kings. The camera was valued at $1,500. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.

Aug. 6

Juveniles Shoot Resident With BB Gun

A Ridgewood resident told police she was stuck by a BB pellet while driving on Bellair Road at 5:48 p.m. She was struck in the face by an object that fell into her lap and was a BB. Patrol officers located three juveniles that were responsible, and they were taken into custody. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents pending juvenile court action.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant Charge

Det. Douglas Henky arrested Gene Lestingi, 51, on an outstanding warrant charge from Paramus Municipal Court. Henky noticed Lestingi walking on East Ridgewood Avenue and arrested him—as he was aware of the warrant. Lestingi was turned over to the Paramus Police Department unable to post bail.
