Schools Honor Police Captain Miller

Captain Jonathan Miller of the Glen Rock Police Department has received the 2011 Glen Rock Friend of Education award from the Glen Rock Education Association. The award is presented annually to someone outside of the GREA who has made a significant contribution to the educational community.

In presenting the award, association representative Don Mutch noted that not only is Miller a product of the Glen Rock schools, but also a former employee of the district’s Technology Department. Since joining the force, he has become a presence in the buildings throughout the district, most recently through his involvement in district-wide security drills and training of school personnel.

“I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Jon over the past several years and can honestly say that it has always been a pleasure. His level of professionalism and dedication are inspiring," said Mutch.

Among his many duties as a captain with GRPD, he serves as the liaison to the Glen Rock Board of Education.

In that capacity, he has demonstrated his willingness to go the extra mile to insure that the schools are safe and secure for students and staff. Miller has been instrumental in the creation and development of the District Safety Team. This team has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that all are prepared to help the students in the event of an emergency. Miller’s contributions to the team are credited with substantially elevating the district’s readiness to respond in a crisis.
